For hobby CNC routers · Windows 10 and 11

Claude has the ideas. Cutline makes them cut.

Type what you want to build. Claude designs it, and Cutline Studio turns the design into exact parts, joints sized to your plywood, a checked fit, and G-code for your machine.

One free design in your browser, or a 7-day free trial of the app. No card needed.

What it does

The part between a good idea and a clean cut

An idea and a sketch are the easy part. Getting parts that fit together, from the plywood you actually have, on the machine you actually own, is where projects usually go wrong. That's the work Cutline Studio does around Claude.

The usual wayCutline Studio
Your plywood"3/4 in" plywood is really about 23/32 in. Slots drawn at 3/4 in come out loose, or so tight they split. You measure your sheet once. Every slot, tab and finger is cut to that thickness plus a small fit allowance.
Exact shapesCoordinates are typed or guessed, and a small mistake shows up only after the part is cut.Claude describes the parts and joints. Cutline's geometry engine builds the exact shapes and rounds inside corners for your bit.
Checking the fitNothing checks that a tab lines up with its slot or that two joints don't collide. An assembly check runs on every design. On the box below, it caught finger joints clashing with the lid's lip, and Claude fixed them on its own.
Your sheet and bedYou lay the parts out by hand and hope they fit your machine.Parts are nested on your sheet or scrap, inside your machine's cutting area, and you're told if something doesn't fit.
The G-codeG-code written by hand or by a general tool can miss the bit offset, cut a dado all the way through, or plunge too fast.Cutline CAM writes it: cuts offset for your bit, pockets at their real depth, holding tabs, true arcs, and the right format for your controller.

Cutline still asks you to check each design before cutting. It's software and an AI model, and it can be wrong. It catches the mistakes that waste plywood and break bits.

Cutline Control: design, cut and run the machine in one app

Cutline Control is coming to Cutline Studio as a new part of the same app. It isn't a separate program. Design the project, make the G-code, then switch to Control and run the job on your Grbl, grblHAL or FluidNC machine, with Claude there to help if something goes wrong. It's in testing now.

Included with Cutline Studio. When Control is ready it arrives in a normal Studio update, inside the app you already have. There's nothing extra to buy or install, on any plan.

Cutline Control in Advanced mode: position readouts, jog pad, touch-plate probing, toolpath preview, run controls and feed override
  • Basic, Intermediate or Advanced. Step-by-step for a first cut, or every control at once.
  • Checks before the bit moves. Warns if the job is bigger than your machine, and finds G-code lines your controller can't run.
  • Zero with a touch plate, pause, stop, feed override and resume from a line.
  • USB or network, with a list of common machines from 3018s to Shapeoko XXL. Routers and lasers.
  • Claude at the machine for alarms and questions.

Advanced mode, from the build in testing, running in demo mode. Features may change before release.

Questions

FAQ

What does Cutline add to Claude?

Claude is good at ideas and at describing parts. Cutline sizes the joints to your measured plywood, checks that the parts fit together, nests them on your sheet, and writes G-code for your bit and controller.

Is Cutline Control a separate app?

No. Control will be part of Cutline Studio itself and will arrive in a normal Studio update. You design, make the G-code and run the machine in the same window, with no second program to install and nothing extra to pay.

Do I need a Claude account or API key?

Not with a subscription. With the buy-outright licence, you add your own Anthropic API key and pay Anthropic directly, usually a few cents to about 30 cents per design.

Which machines does it work with?

Hobby routers that run Grbl or Mach3/Mach4 G-code, such as Shapeoko, Onefinity, Sienci LongMill, X-Carve, OpenBuilds, Apprentice and 3018 machines.

What happens when the trial ends?

Designing and CAM keep working. Saving G-code, DXF files and plans needs a licence.

Does it work on Mac?

Not yet. Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit.

What about privacy?

No analytics, ads or tracking on this site or in the app. See the privacy policy for what the app sends and why.

Is CNC cutting dangerous?

Yes. Check each design, air-cut new G-code with the bit raised, clamp your work, wear eye and ear protection, and never leave a running machine.
